Baptist General Convention of TexasThe Baptist General Convention of Texas enables our church to be involved in evangelism, missions, Christian education and benevolent work throughout Texas. Through the Cooperative Program we support these various mission opportunities. |
Hamoreh MinistriesDr. Gene Wofford, a member here at First Rosenberg is a professor of Christianity at Houston Baptist University. Dr. Wofford works alongside Dr. Jamie Johns at HBU who is the co-founder of Hamoreh Ministries. It was through this connection that one of our adult Sunday School departments became active in supporting Hamoreh. Hamoreh exists to evangelize the lost through the equipping of Christian leaders by: Teaching courses, lecturing and preaching; Mentoring teachers and preachers and Providing resources to learners, leaders and learning centers. In our work with Hamoreh we have sent over 400 copies of Dr. Gene Wofford's book "Basic Bible Beliefs" as well as collected, boxed and mailed over 3000 theological study books to Nairobi, Kenya to help furnish a library at a university where Dr. Johns teaches. |
Helping HandsHelping Hands is a non-profit organization formed by local churches to help people in crisis by providing basic need for a short-term basis. Their goal is to provide temporary assistance until the individual or family becomes self sufficient. Here at First Rosenberg we support Helping Hands financially and through an annual food/clothing drive. This food/clothing drive is repeated throughout the year if it is necessary. |
International Mission BoardIn following with our mission work here at First Rosenberg, we also support the work of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Over 5,000 missionaries serve in countries around the world to share the good news of Jesus Christ. We give prayer support and financial support through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, and through the Cooperative Program. |
Living Water InternationalLiving Water International exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water, and to experience "living water" - the gospel of Jesus Christ - which alone satisfies the deepest thirst. First Rosenberg has been involved with LWI for one year. Last summer, the youth of First Rosenberg participated in the H2O Project. This involved students committing to drink water as their only beverage for two weeks. The scenario would go something like this... After the end of our two weeks our students raised over $1,000 to give towards Living Water International. This event is going to become an annual project for our students and anyone else in the church who wants to provide clean drinking water to people groups who lose family members daily to water related diseases. |
Missionary HomeHere at First Rosenberg we provide a home for missionaries. Our church owns a house located in Rosenberg that we furnish to missionaries who are in the States on stateside assignment. Throughout the years our missionary residence has provided a home to dozens of missionary families. While staying in our missionary residence, the missionary families become involved in our church, speaking at various events and sharing their stories. Some of the families have developed strong friendships with our people and have stayed with us more than once. |
North American Mission BoardHere at First Rosenberg we support the work of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Over 5,000 missionaries work with the NAMB in mission work in the United States and Canada. Most of our support of the NAMB comes through prayer support, our participation in the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering and through our churches involvement in the Cooperative Program. |
San Felipe Baptist AssociationAs part of the San Felipe Baptist Association we take part in many different mission opportunities in our local area. SFBA is composed of our 60 Baptist congregations in Fort Bend County and portions of Austin, Waller and Harris counties. The SFBA exists to assist, encourage, and resource its churches to fulfill the Great Commission and the two Great Commandments. The SFBA also stays true to it's three main priorties. The first is church planting and missions. The second is church strengthening and the third is leader development. Through the SFBA our church grows and is able to participate in multiple mission opportunities. To find out more about the SFBA, click here to watch a promotional video. |
South Texas Childrens HomeSouth Texas Childrens Home was started in 1952 by Laura Boothe Overby and Rev. Jess Lunsford in Bee County, Texas. This little project would soon become a home to thousands of children over the next half century. Our church supports S.T.C.H. financially through our gifts through the Cooperative Program. We encourage our church family and more specifically, our children, to help in the Kans for Kids food drive that takes place every year during the week of Vacation Bible School. |
Youth Mission TripsOur students here at First Rosenberg are also active in mission work. Each summer our students go on a mission trip of some sort. There have been various different types of trips over the past few years. We have done anything from sport camps, to backyard Bible clubs, to hosting a Vacation Bible School, to last years mission trip where we helped with Habitat for Humanity in building homes for those displaced by Katrina. |
